From the lab to the market

Two people, one lab, and a technology to ship

Our story begins in December 2019 at Université Laval. We were two: a scientific mind passionate about plasma technology, Jacopo Profili, and a doctoral student in infectious diseases, Marine Queffeulou, eager to improve tomorrow's health and curious to learn more about scientific entrepreneurship.

Together we created a story worth telling: from the research lab to the commercialization of an innovative technology. At Kalego Solutions, our mission is to create a positive impact through cutting-edge technologies, optimized to meet your needs.

Whether you are a researcher looking for innovative new equipment, or a company seeking tailor-made solutions, we are here for you. Backed by a talented and diverse team, we are proud to rise to your challenges every day.

The founders

Who answers when you write to us

Marine Queffeulou, co-founder and CEO of Kalego Solutions

Co-founder · Chief Executive Officer

Marine Queffeulou

A doctoral candidate in infectious diseases at Université Laval's Faculty of Medicine, Marine juggles two demanding worlds: academia and business. Her scientific expertise and her ability to structure and run Kalego Solutions have been key to our growth.

Jacopo Profili, co-founder and CTO of Kalego Solutions

Co-founder · Chief Technology Officer

Jacopo Profili

A researcher in atmospheric-pressure plasmas, winner of the Young Investigator Award at the 25th ISPC for his work on dielectric barrier discharges. He is also a proud "nerd" who brings his know-how to every project and shapes your next innovation.

Our approach

What working with us actually looks like

Analysis of a customer part and its technical drawing in our facilities 01

Diagnosis

We start by understanding your surface before proposing anything. If plasma is not the right answer to your problem, we say so — that reflex is what the lab left us with.

Contact angle measurement before and after plasma treatment: 130° then 20° 02

Validation

Nothing goes to production without measurement. We treat your parts in our facilities and document the result, so the decision to invest rests on data rather than on a promise.

Plasma reactor integrated in line on a robotic production arm 03

Integration

A reactor is only worth something once it is on your line. We design for your real constraints — throughput, footprint, operators — and we stay reachable after commissioning.

Our highlights

Five years, from student prize to reactor on the line

  1. 2024

ULaval–CDPQ Entrepreneurial Academy. The team grows and production is structured around the reactor product lines.

  2. 2023

Jacopo Profili receives the Young Investigator Award at the 25th ISPC (Kyoto) for his work on atmospheric plasmas. Marine Queffeulou wins the first Marie-France Poulin scholarship in women's entrepreneurship.

  3. 2022

Kalego Solutions is incorporated, followed by the first industrial contracts and services.

  4. 2021

Proto10 program at Entrepreneuriat ULaval: moving from a lab bench setup to the first prototype we could show a customer.

  5. 2020

First external validations of the technology: Devtech competition (1st jury prize) and the Université Laval Business Idea Competition.

  6. 2019

Marine Queffeulou and Jacopo Profili meet in the Université Laval lab. The Kalego project is born.

Want to work on plasma with us?

The team has grown every year since 2019. We read unsolicited applications, in process engineering as well as in manufacturing and surface characterization.

Send an application

Welcome to our world of innovation

Describe your surface, we will tell you what plasma can do with it

A description of the material and the problem is enough to get started. An engineer answers you, not an automated form.
