Specialised stations

Some materials cannot be treated like a part: a powder requires every grain to pass through the plasma. This range gathers turnkey stations designed for those cases.

Which problem it is for

When this equipment is the right one

A part has a surface you can aim at; a powder has a surface spread over millions of grains. Treatment can no longer be an exposure, it has to become a flow: every grain crosses the plasma zone, with no agglomerates and no short-cut in the path.

01

A powder that will not disperse

Agglomerates persist in the mix. Lowering the surface energy makes the material hydrophobic and improves dispersion.

02

A powder with poor miscibility

Conversely, raising the surface energy improves miscibility and solubility in the carrier phase.

03

A material that is neither part nor powder

The range includes two further stations intended for other types of material. Describe your product and we will point you the right way.

Operating principle

How it works

The material flows through a treatment zone, in line and without intervention. It is the passage that guarantees every grain sees the plasma, where a static exposure would only treat the surface of the heap.

The direction of the change is a choice: upwards to improve miscibility and solubility, downwards to make the material hydrophobic and improve dispersion. The treatment also acts on material properties such as strength and crystallinity.

Configurations

Choosing the right variant

  • Powders and granulates

The material flows through a treatment zone, in line and with no manual intervention.

  • Surface energy up

To improve the miscibility and solubility of powders in their carrier phase.

  • Surface energy down

To make the material hydrophobic and improve its dispersion.

  • Two further configurations

The range includes two further stations, intended for types of material other than powders and granulates.

Integration

What to plan for on your side

Equipment that does not talk to your PLC stays an isolated station. Before any order, we validate with you the real constraints of your line : protocol, footprint, available utilities and extraction.

These values are indicative and are confirmed at the process study stage, on the configuration actually retained.

Frequently asked questions

Before you write to us

How do I know whether this equipment suits my part ?

By sending it to us. We treat your samples in our Quebec City laboratory and you receive a costed answer within 48 hours : surface energy before and after, the parameters retained, and our frank opinion if plasma is not the right answer to your problem.

Can it be rented before buying ?

Yes. Rental serves to validate a production hypothesis on your site, with your parts and your operators, before committing to an investment. Terms : [x].

What documents do you provide for a customer audit ?

The corresponding process file : the plasma parameters retained, characterisation methods, validation results on your parts and operating procedures. For regulated markets, the level of documentation is adapted to your sector's requirements.

And if no configuration fits ?

Our engineers then design the reactor to specification : dimensions, gases, controllers, interface, sized on your material and your throughput. See the custom reactors →
